RESIDENTAL WASTEWATER TREATMENT

The process of urbanization is increasingly developing, residential areas, housing complexes, offices, ... are built more and more, as a result, the release of pollutants into the environment is inevitable. Therefore, the construction of a domestic wastewater treatment system is essential to thoroughly treat the problem causing pollution.

1. Source of residental wastewater

Residental wastewater is domestic wastewater after used for the purpose of living of the community such as bathing, washing, cleaning, etc. Domestic wastewater is usually discharged from apartments, agencies,… The amount of wastewater depends on the population, water supply standards and characteristics of the water supply system. Domestic wastewater which is discharged from residential areas, companies, businesses, hospitals, public works ... requires a suitable residential wastewater treatment system for thorough treatment.

3. Technological process of domestic wastewater treatment

Depending on the concentration of pollution, the flow of domestic wastewater or the requirement for the output water that we choose an appropriate technological process for domestic wastewater treatment. The following technology is commonly used in domestic wastewater treatment systems:

4. Description of technological process:

Sewage collection tanks, fat tanks

Domestic wastewater is brought back to collection tank. This tank can receive as a medium of wastewater and seperates grease out of wastewater stream. Thus helping increase working efficiency and lifespan of devices of treatment system. Wastewater in collection tank will flow to the air tank.

Air tank

Air tank conditions the flow and concentration of wastewater, also creates a stable and constant working mode for treatment works, avoids overload status. Wastewater in air tank is diffused constantly from diffusers and distributors system in order to avoid anaerobic phenomenon as well as sedimentation at the bottom of the basin.

Wastewater stream continues to be pumped to anoxic tank.

Anoxic tank

By using anaerobic adhesion microorganisms on a biofilter moving bed. Anoxic tank has the function of treating nitrate (in wastewater inlet and recirculation from the return tank), hydrolyzes complex organic compounds into simple organic compounds, partially treating the organic matter compounds into CO2, H2O, CH4, H2S, new biomass ...

BOD content decreased significantly after passing this tank. The water after passing through the anaerotank, is sent to the Aeration tank to perform the aerobic treatment process.

Aeration tank

In the aeration tank, oxygen is provided to the tank through an air diffuser, the aerobic microbiota will use oxygen to decompose most of the organic compounds present in the wastewater. The aerobic microorganism system adheres to the carrier (the bed), forming a microbial layer that disturbs movement in the wastewater, increases the contact between microorganisms with organic matter, so the treatment efficiency of this process is alot higher than the plan of using traditional activated sludge.

The result of the decomposition of organic matter by the aerobic microbiota is to create simple inorganic substances such as CO2, H2O, NO3-…, and new biomass.

Water after passing the aeration tank with BOD content not exceeding 50mg / l, continues to be circulated to the recirculation tank.

Biological sedimentation tanks

Biological sedimentation tank is a tank separating biological sludge from wastewater in the mixture of sludge and wastewater from the tank blowing air.

The mixture of sludge and waste water leaving the biological tank blows the overflow air into the biological sedimentation tank to perform the process of separating water and sludge.

The bio-sludge deposited at the bottom of the tank is partly circulated to the aeration tank to ensure the concentration of aerobic microbiological sludge in the gas blowing tank, and partly to the sludge tank (if the sludge is excess, the concentration of sludge is higher. permitted levels).

A part of activated sludge can be recirculated to the Deficiency tank to create anoxic sludge (in the form of anoxic microorgansms, optional).

Disinfection tank

This tank has the function of removing pathogenic microorganisms from the wastewater with disinfectant chemicals before discharge.
