Flotation method is often used to separate dissoluble or poorly self - settling dispersed impurities (solid particles form or liquid form) out of liquid phase. In industrial wastewater trearment, floration process is often applied for suspended matter and grease removal. The basic advantages of this method is be able to remove completely tiny, light and slow settling particles in a short period of time.

Flotation process is accomplished by aerating in liquid phase. These air bubbles will bind with sedimentary articles. When the density of both air bubbles and sedimentary particles are smaller density of water, sediment will follow the bubble to the surface.
