Operating principles of flotation tanks

Water is brought into a dissolved gas tank by a high pressure pump. The air is pumped into the dissolved air tank by an air compressor, where water and air are mixed. Saturated liquid flows into the flotation compartment of the connection tank, through a pressure reducing valve, the pressure is abruptly reduced to atmospheric pressure. Dissolved gas is separated and attached to the sediment particles in the water, forming flotation process.

Design specifications for flotation tanks

• Micro-air-bubbles size: 1 - 2µ (compared to common flotation 20 - 50µ).
• The efficiency of suspended solids reduction: TSS = 9 - 99%.
• Organic reduction efficiency: N COD = 45 - 75%.
• Time to keep water in flotation tank: 20 - 60 minutes
• A/S (air/sludge) ratio: 0.02 - 0.45
• Storage time of water in the dissolved gas tank: 0.5 - 3 minutes
• Surface load: 2 - 350m³/m²/day
• Compressed air pressure: 3.5 - 7atm
• Air consumption: 15 - 50l/m³
